When you think of the word mentor, what comes to mind?
If you search the terms Mentor and Women, you’ll find plenty of results—predominantly for the workplace.
Now combine Mentor, Women, and Midlife. What comes up is mentors for women going through those oftentimes tumultuous midlife years.
All good stuff. But—
What I see missing is the call for women in midlife to become mentors to younger generations.
Being a mentor is one of the ways we as women in midlife contribute to something larger than ourselves.
Mentoring can take many forms, from working with family members to expanding your reach to your community at large.
In fact, simply by living life as our true selves, we are contributing awakened energy to collective consciousness.
Think of the concept of manifestation. Rather than putting out vibes that align with what we want from life, living as our true selves manifests the world we want to live in.
(Here are a couple of scientific studies about consciousness and quantum fields in case you like to geek out on this stuff as much as I do.)
A few things I believe…
I believe that midlife is one of the most fertile phases of our lives. Not for baby-making, for self-creating. That’s why I want you to feel confident in your choices, your behavior, your relationships with others, and most of all with your Self.
I believe we can shine a light in the darkness of what young women think middle age is like. We can let them see it’s not so bad. Even when it sucks, we have our selves (and each other) to keep us grounded and whole.
Most of all, I believe we can change the way society thinks about middle-aged women. Wouldn’t it be wild for young women to look forward to growing older and the wisdom and groundedness that comes with it?
I believe that it’s not only possible, it’s necessary for the evolution of humanity.
I had a wonderful time talking about this very topic on Allegra M. Sinclair’s podcast, Your Confident Self:
“How Becoming a Mentor Can Benefit Women in their 40s and 50s.”
Here’s what we cover:
My three-step journey to mentorship
The importance of healing childhood wounds, learning healthy boundaries, and understanding one’s importance to collective consciousness
The power and beauty of the Sacred Feminine and how women in midlife can embrace their self-creating potential
The negative focus on aging and the importance of embracing perimenopause and menopause as rites of passage
The importance of recognizing your own strengths and value and how you can contribute to collective consciousness
Have a listen then drop me a line. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
