Emotions, feelings—some are amazing, some not so much. Whether pleasant or unpleasant, big emotions and feelings can knock you off your center and leave you feeling wobbly and vulnerable (not in a good way).
This self-alignment meditation helps you re-center yourself by welcoming the unsettling feelings, accepting them as just one facet of your complex being.
Imagine a child having a tantrum. Not pretty, right? Neither are some of our unsettling feelings. But what do we do with that raging child? Walk away and hope they stop? Of course not. (That never works, anyway.) Instead, we get down on their level and soothe them. Because we are the adults and we can see beyond the fevered flash of the moment.
This is exactly what the self-alignment meditation does when unruly emotions and feelings tug at your sleeve.
If this kind of gentle inner work appeals to you, I invite you to join us for Write Your Self Open—biweekly sessions of guided meditations, reflective journaling, and thoughtful group discussions—designed to guide you toward the wisdom of your inner knowing.
Those are big words, “the wisdom of your inner knowing.” Your inner knowing is your Highest Self. The Wise One within you. The soother. The discerning decision-maker. The Best Friend who stands by you no matter what.
Don’t you want to hear more from that voice?
Registration is open and ongoing.

ABOUT THE MEDITATION
The Self-alignment Meditation
[Duration: 17 minutes]
When emotions get the best of us, we can feel overwhelmed and out of control. This brief, body-focused meditation brings us back into alignment with love and acceptance of our fully human lives.
You'll receive instruction on the meditation before the practice begins.
The Self-alignment Meditation can be used in its long or short form (practicing it as long as you need to regulate).
The complete recording can be found on Episode 22 of my podcast, Self Talk with Rachel Astarte.
_____________________________________________
Before you begin
Prepare your space and ensure you will not be disturbed.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Use an eye cover, if preferred.
Have a notebook/journal and pen ready.
Optional: Prepare a question for your journey. It could be anything you’re grappling with at the moment.
Note: It’s best not to ask a “When” question; in Non-ordinary Reality there is no “time” as we understand it.
Write your question in your notebook or journal.
After the meditation
Sit up slowly. Take a moment to return to Ordinary Reality.
Write whatever you remember from your journey into your notebook/journal. Use all the senses!
Consider how you might incorporate the offerings you received from the journey into your life, starting today.
Good luck, and blessings on your journey.
